Calculation of passenger flows through the metro station Teatralnaya of the St. Petersburg Metro

The paper presents an assessment of passenger traffic in the metro station Teatralnaya of the St. Petersburg metro, as well as an analysis of passenger and traffic flows in the area where the lobbies are located.

The estimation of passenger traffic is carried out with the purpose of substantiation of the basic parameters of constructions and devices of the Pravoberezhno-Lakhtinskaya line, ensuring its carrying capacity. Objects of calculation are:
1) Vestibules of the station Teatralnaya;
2) Distances from the station Spasskaya to the station Bolshoi prospekt (Kosaya liniya).

Calculation of the maximum passenger traffic on the project lines and metro stations is performed in the following periods of the line operation:
a) the first period — from the first to the tenth years (from 2015 to 2025, the loads and the network are taken for 2015).
b) the second period — from the tenth to the twentieth years (loads and network are accepted for 2025);
c) the third period — the estimated period (more than 20 years, loads and network are accepted for 2035).
The calculation was carried out basing on research of existing and forecast of future passenger and traffic flows on metro network and the main street network using mathematical models of formation and distribution of flows in the network.
The analysis of passenger and traffic flows was carried out with the purpose of justifying planning decisions of approaches and entrances to the project vestibules of the metro station Teatralnaya.
Modern pedestrian and transport flows in the areas of existing and project stations are defined in the framework of this work by the method of full-scale survey.
